Dehu, May 5: Lakhs of liters of water went to waste in Dehu after a valve malfunctioned on the water supply pipeline near Parandwal Chowk. Residents are outraged that this incident occurred right in the middle of summer, during a period of acute water scarcity.
A water supply line runs from the water tank at Vitthalwadi to Parandwal Chowk. This pipeline is equipped with a valve located on the bridge. The valve had become defective; it subsequently snapped due to a sudden surge in water pressure, resulting in the wastage of thousands of liters of water.
Commenting on the matter, Chief Officer Chetan Konde stated that the valve had indeed malfunctioned and detached, leading to the water wastage; he confirmed that the main supply line has since been shut off.
